Heavenly Father,
We thank you for gathering us together
and calling us to serve as your disciples.
You have charged us through Your Son, Jesus, with the great mission
of evangelising and witnessing your love to the world.
Send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern your will
for the spiritual renewal of our parish.
Give us strength, courage, and clear vision
as we use our gifts to serve you.
We entrust our parish family to the care of Mary, our mother,
and ask for her intercession and guidance
as we strive to bear witness
to the Gospel and build an amazing parish.
Amen.

PREGO REFLECTION:
As I come to prayer, I ask the Lord to help me be aware of
his welcoming presence, and to offer anything that burdens me into his hands.
In time, I read through the Gospel text prayerfully. I may like to place myself
within the scene, sensing the hustle and bustle of Passover, the different
nationalities and languages … Jesus and his disciples nearby. I stay here for a
while, noticing what stirs for me. Perhaps I stand with the Greeks, sensing
their eagerness to meet Jesus. Who is the Jesus that I would like to encounter?
Is there something I would like to say to him? I take time to do that now,
trusting that he listens to me with the greatest love and compassion. Is there
anyone in my life who might be asking me to introduce them to Jesus? I ask the
Lord to show me. Jesus is clear about the challenges of life in his service –
and also clear about the promised reward. I ponder the ways in which Jesus
himself comes to us as a loving servant. How does it feel as he invites me to
work alongside him, as servants together? Where might he be calling me to
follow him this day, this week? I ask for any grace that I need, and the
courage to respond with an open and generous heart. In time I end my prayer,
giving thanks for all that the Lord has done for me. Our Father .....

My
ramblings from Cebu.
When I arrived in Cebu on
Monday evening I was greeted enthusiastically by Br Cris and a group of
friends. After making sure I was well and had travelled comfortably he calmly
told me that the Centre where he has been living with his community had been
almost completely destroyed by fire that morning. With an accepting smile on
his face he told me that he had some clothes and his vestments but everything
else had been lost.
I could just imagine how I
would feel and wondered whether I could be so calm about a catastrophe like that.
Over the next two days I met other members of the community and they have the
same peaceful acceptance - it
reminds me of how much
importance I place on ‘things’ when there is so much more to give thanks to God
for.
Archbishop Julian arrives
tonight (Thursday) and we will then prepare for the Ordination at one of the
Shrines in Cebu on Friday. We were going to look at the Church where the Mass
of Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Saturday but our driver needed to go to
the airport so I was dropped back at the Schoenstatt Centre where I am staying.
More about the adventure in Cebu next week.
Back at home. This week we
will have the 2 Celebrations of Reconciliation for the Children who are part of
our Sacramental Program for 2018. This is an important stage in the lives of
these children and their families and I encourage all parishioners to pray with
and for them.
A reminder that there will
also be Celebration of Reconciliation for the remainder of the community during
Holy Week - please note the details in the Holy Week times opposite.
Travelling in Cebu reminds me how dangerous
it can be on the roads so please take care when you are travelling.

Ditosa, a young girl from
Mozambique, is cared for by her grandmother after her parents died of
AIDS-related illnesses. Featured in Project Compassion 2013, Ditosa faced a
challenging future with food scarcity, little education and few job prospects.
In 2018, thanks to Caritas Australia’s support Ditosa has graduated from school
and hopes to go to university and secure an even brighter future. Please donate
to Project Compassion 2018 and help young women like Ditosa to grow up with an
education, confidence and hope, providing them with a just future. A Just
Future starts with your support! You can donate through Parish boxes and
envelopes, by visiting www.caritas.org.au/projectcompassion
or phoning 1800 024 413.
